Flagstone Process:
Our process for our flagstone overlays requires a lot of prep and planning. First we clean the existing concrete with a 4000 psi pressure washer to remove dirt and any foreign materials. Then level uneven areas, grind out and treat any cracks, pull rotten wood joints. The concrete is then ready for the skim coat. This is a thin layer of polymer modified cement that is applied with a special squeege. This will fill in any imperfections and give us a new surface to work with. It will also serve as our grout line color.
After the skim coat cures. We then lay out our pattern either with special tape or a stencil. When that is complete a heavy trowel coat of the overlay material is put on. We can adjust the texture from smooth to rough. This trowel coat will be the color of the main stones. When that cures, generally 24 hours we then apply the highlight colors. Then the tape or stencil is pulled to reveal the pattern on the concrete. Detailing is done at this point. Then 2 coats of a clear sealer is applied. Depending on the size of the project it can take 3-5 days.

This is another flagsone style. Larger stones.
This is flagstone pattern. Walnut grout lines, Buckskin Beige stones, red, antique white and topaz highlights.
Knockdown lace pattern
This process is generally used on pool decks. It gives a slip resistant surface and comes in various colors. The area is prepped as above. Then a skim coat if neccessary is applied. Then the overlay material is shot down with a modified hopper gun. As the material dries it is then knocked down with a trowel. Then the surface receives a colored concrete stain. This process can be used with taped patterns and stencils also.
